Dr. Jacquelyn Cheatham-Terry D.O
Board President

Dr. Jacquelyn Cheatham-Terry D.O., is a Family Practice Physician currently serving the medically underserved in rural NW Georgia. Dr. Cheatham-Terry is the founder and operator of NT Physician Consulting, based out of the metro Atlanta area. She is a wife and mother of two, originally from Columbus, OH. She received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from The Ohio State University. She attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where she graduated with her medical degree and received the National Health Service Corp Scholarship. She trained at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Cheatham-Terry works fulltime at an outpatient family medicine practice, but also serves as a community preceptor to medical students, nurse practitioners, and family medicine residents in the area. She is currently serving as Physician leader for the Floyd Community Ambassador Program, which is directed at addressing Healthcare Disparities and improving patient outcomes as it to Heart Disease in the Black Community.

Cassie Ford Treasurer

Cassie Ford is an attorney-advisor at the Board of Veteran Appeals.  Additionally, she serves as co-chair of the Education and Training Committee of Law 4 Black Lives DC.

Cassie holds a B.A. in Political Science from Xavier University of Louisiana and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.  She is licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee. 

Jordan bowles Social media

Jordan Bowles received her Master’s in Communications Studies in 2020 at Florida Atlantic University with a research focus of media representations of black women in culture, and how Black women have used digital spaces for activism and political advocacy. She also received her Bachelor’s in Multimedia Journalism with a certificate in Ethnic Studies in 2018. Jordan’s passion lies in a strong commitment to uplifting and empowering the black community, especially Black women, and she has demonstrated this through several community involvement opportunities and projects in her local community. During her time in college, she was an executive board member for her alma mater’s chapter of the NAACP, which would lead her on the career path she is pursuing today. Currently, she is a Digital Communications Associate at a nonprofit communications agency that services various nonprofit and advocacy organizations.

Nicole Clark, LMSW

Member At large

Nicole Clark, LMSW is a licensed social worker and owner of Nicole Clark Consulting, where she partners with mission aligned BIPOC-centered, women-led, and allied organizations whose work supports the lived experiences and advancement of women, girls, and gender expansive youth of color. Nicole consults on a variety of topics including the Reproductive Justice framework, participatory research, program design, strategic planning, and culturally responsive and equitable evaluation. Nicole is based in Washington, DC, and works with organizations within the United States and globally.

Tiffani scales - Member at large


Tiffani Scales is a Program Development Officer at USAID. Her passions lay at the nexus between health and social justice as she believes that no one anywhere should be denied access to high quality healthcare. Prior to USAID, her work focused on managing public and private sector partnerships to reduce racial and economic disparities in health. Tiffani holds a Master of Public Health degree from The Ohio State University. 

Dr. Pearline M. Tyson
Board Vice-President

Pearline Tyson, Ph.D., is Vice President of the Cultural Equity Lab’s board of directors and served as co-lead on the 2021 research study on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs’) partnerships with U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Pearline is Senior Program Manager for the Montgomery County government, in which capacity she manages two long-term federal government contracts related to economic mobility. She also serves as a noninstitutional member of the MayaTech Corporation’s institutional review board, for which she leads the review of research projects involving human participants.

Most recently, she held an adjunct professorship in the Department of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Pearline has extensive experience in applied research, having served as lead researcher on projects contracted by NGOs and government agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. Her research experience also embraces over a decade of expertise in the educational outcomes of young people in the United States and South Africa. In addition to her experience as a researcher, Pearline brings to HBCUHubEx her extensive personal and professional knowledge of HBCUs as well as her expertise on federal contracts and award procurement and management.

Pearline earned a B.A. in political science with a double concentration in African American studies and sociology from Xavier University of Louisiana. She also holds an M.A. in African American and African diaspora studies from Morgan State University and a Ph.D. in African studies with a concentration in policy and development from Howard University.

Shanelle Chambers Haile Member At Large

Shanelle Chambers Haile, Ph.D., is an Associate within McKinsey and Company’s Boston office, specializing in public and social sector projects. With over a decade of experience in public policy, she has spearheaded research and strategic planning initiatives for the U.S. Agency for International Development as well as evaluation projects for the U.S. Department of Justice. Shanelle is deeply committed to advancing socioeconomic equality and mobility, focusing her research on these critical issues. Currently, she is serving a two-year term as a member of the Board of Trustees at her alma mater, Brown University. Shanelle’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Spelman College, a Master of Education in Community Development from Vanderbilt University, and both a Master of Arts and a Doctorate in Sociology from Brown University.
